Monstrous Affections

I picked this book up at Powell's bookstore in Portland, looking for something to read on a weekend away. I generally like short horror fiction, since it rarely focuses on the why and instead on the what.

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I will often give a book a second thought if the cover is nice. When I first heard about Monstrous Affections I thought, "Well...

I've been a horror nut my entire life and one of the big dangers of the genre is the over-reliance on tropes. A lot of the creators are fans and tend not to think beyond the hoary old vampire/haunted house/serial killer cliches.
