It took me a little while to get into the pacing and the meanderings of thoughts but once I was able to grasp that, there were many, many moments that struck me as the way I would want to write about the world - the same ways I saw it and lived it. I can't get enough of the writing of the children of immigrant parents who are able to put into words their places - as there is no one place, as there isn't one voice that can represent any one group - in the world, and what touches me most is how avidly they attempt to sketch their fondness for their parents and the struggle and ferocity and tenderness in those relationships.
Disturbingly beautiful.
